Description:
• A guarded hot plate with data acquisition is a laboratory device used to measure the thermal conductivity of materials. 
• It consists of two concentric plates, one made of a material with known thermal conductivity (the guard plate) and the other made of the material to be tested (the test plate). 
• The two plates are separated by a small gap, and the temperature on either side of the gap is measured using thermocouples.
