Description:
• A dial depth gauge is a precision measuring tool used to measure the depth of holes, grooves, and other recesses. 
• It consists of a base, a measuring rod, and a dial indicator. 
• The base is usually made of cast iron or steel, and has a number of holes drilled and tapped into it for mounting the depth gauge to a machine table or other work surface. 
• The measuring rod is made of hardened steel, and has a pointed end that is used to contact the bottom of the hole or recess being measured. 
• The dial indicator is used to display the depth measurement in the desired units, such as inches, millimeters, or fractional inches.
• To use a dial depth gauge, the user simply places the base of the depth gauge on a flat surface and lowers the measuring rod until it contacts the bottom of the hole or recess being measured. 
• The dial indicator will then show the depth measurement.
